The Real Music Club presents Son of Ugly + PsychoYogi + Bee & Jackrabbit Unfortunately The Emerald Dawn have had to pull out of this gig, however, we aim to re-schedule them to play in 2023. So we now have local outfit Son of Ugly promoting their newly released album "Derailed". An evening of high-quality musicianship; miss at your peril! Son of Ugly: Son Of Ugly are a 5 piece band from Brighton UK that specialise in genre-fluid, largely instrumental dramatic, cinematic music. With a list of influences as big as a telephone book, you never quite know what’s coming next with Son of ugly. One minute they sound like a David Lynch-themed strip club, the next they sound like a missing episode of Randal & Hopkirk deceased, onto a sprawling epic that travels through 5 different genres of music, rounding off with something that sounds like the soundtrack to a 50's Monster B-movie. That being said it is deftly handled with a sense of taste and consideration that serves the concepts, all the while delivered with a wry smile and a knowing sense of the absurdity of blending an Italian-themed waltz into a Latino surf car chase piece. https://sonofugly.com/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbdBi4_M5mxHwl-UGqU5H6g PsychoYogi: Psychoyogi's music is a diverse mixture of instrumental colours, melodies, and words. The songs present social and political critique alongside personal moments and moods. In the words of Mike O'Toole (Beat Magazine) "Their sound is unparalleled and cannot be categorised. It is a rejection of docile adherence to a single musical style". The music is both challenging and accessible and is influenced by many musicians and composers including Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Radiohead, XTC, Captain Beefheart, The Police, The Beatles, Hendrix, Gentle Giant, Gong, Bach, Bartok, Messiaen, Stravinsky, etc. The music contains an abundance of unusual time signatures and rich chord structures to tantalise the aural senses and musical imagination and lyrics that question western social values and the decline of the human condition in the 21st century. Based in London, they have been together for around four years with the current line-up which includes, Chris Ramsing, Guitar and Vocals, Jonas Golland, Drums, Chris Sansom, Bass, Harmony vocals and Toby Nowell, Sax and Trumpet. Bee & Jackrabbit: Brighton-based Bee & Jackrabbit are a chamber-pop band combining elements of folk, punk, indie and classical music. Key members Piper Murray (guitar and vocals) Robin Squirrell (cello and vocals) and Nick Williams (synths and vocals) create layered harmonies, intricate arrangements and powerful melodies alongside sharp, witty and observant lyrics. Over the years they've been gaining recognition on the UK scene having played venues such as The Garage, ULU, Ronnie Scott's, The Hope & Ruin, Komedia, Green Door Store and the Concorde 2. They have also embarked on two Ireland tours and most recently a Scotland and Northern England tour with indie legends The Wedding Present. They released their first two singles "Dream House" and "Sugar" in 2021 which were launched at a sold-out headline show at St Nicholas' Church in Brighton. "With that natural song-crafters’ feel for the pulse, Bee And Jackrabbit create music full of rich melody and understated drama. Their song ‘Dream House’ makes for that perfect snapshot: the arcing cello phrase, the braided fingerpicking, the big chords, the drum rolls, and a resonant vocal singed with sadness. It’s a song with the emotional rush of The Magnetic Fields at their most heartfelt and melancholic."

- Brighton Source Magazine "Recalling Simon and Garfunkel, divine vocal harmonising, authentic and heartfelt songs"
