Inspired by the all-night impromptu format of the legendary 60’s folk clubs, Les Caravans is a travelling collective comprising of some of Britain’s finest singers & instrumentalists.

First meeting in London’s Broadside Hacks MOTH nights, the group now features musicians from across the British isles including Robin Adams(Glasgow), Daisy Rickman (Cornwall), Sam Grassie (Biggar), Rosie Brownhill( Staffordshire, UK), Mataio Austin Dean (Portsmouth), Sam Fryer (Cardiff) & Alfie Jones (London) a trip to the edge of the Land in Penzance got them thinking they could bring their raw take on the road.

An evening with Les Caravans begins with solo performances and descends into a raucous full band performance that rings into the cold night.

Les Caravan's next visit to the south coast already has some excellent talent confirmed:

Sam Fryer

Usually found fronting Soul-folk band Gently Tender Sam Fryer is the vocal power-house of the caravan. Whether you arrive melancholic or blue he will lift you high with his take on old-time classics from Doc Watson to the Dubliners.

Alfie Jones

A mysterious character who vanishes as frequently as Nick Drake although fortunately does not share the same penchant for sleeping pills. Alfie Jones is the grandson of 60’s troubadour Wizz Jones and by god can he play the guitar.

Robin Adams

Adams has carved out a distinctive niche in the folk singer songwriter landscape. In the words of folk legend Ralph McTell, “If Robin had been on the circuit I was on back in the day, he would already be an underground guitar singer-songwriter star!”

Mataio Austin Dean - lead singer of progressive folk collective “Shovel Dance” Mataio sings unaccompanied ballads with a truly unquestionable authenticity "channelling the spirt of Ewan MacColl" - Tradfolk

Sam Grassie

A Scottish fingerstyle guitarist and songwriter, gaining a reputation on the circuit for dynamic sets that traverse traditional folk, acoustic blues and american primitive. Off the back of his recent debut EP “Sandwood” Grassie has toured with Ryley Walker, Naima Bock & Daisy Rickman.

Tradfolk "It's probably the finest piece of folk fingerstyle guitar playing I've heard in recent years. The dexterity is undeniable, but it's the lyrical beauty that Grassie finds in the fretboard that really takes the breath away."

Bert Jansch Foundation "When Sam Grassie gets around to recording an album of his own, we’re likely to witness one of the finest folk guitarists of his generation."

Line of Best Fit "A rising star in the world of trad folk, he’s part of folk collective Broadside Hacks ... carves out a sound of his very own."
