More Info
A night of weird and wonderful live music including psychedelic rock, alternative rock, and prog rock delights! Ears battered by sleigh bells and other Christmas noises? Come take refuge in the cellar! 3 live acts, a dance competition, prizes, and perfume from Brighton Perfume.
Featuring SON OF UGLY, THE QWARKS, and FRAGILE CREATURES.
SON OF UGLY
You never quite know what’s coming next with Son of Ugly- one minute sounding like a David Lynch-themed strip club, the next sounding like a missing episode of a 70’s thriller, into sprawling epics that travel through 5 genres of music. It’s clear that Son Of Ugly’s love of film music spills into their work, and the progressive nature of the music is somehow refined into a more immediate delivery than is typical within prog scenes and presented with a tongue-in-its-cheek for the more audacious genre mashing they attempt.
THE QWARKS
A psychedelic rock power trio and occasional doomsday cult surviving on the edge on the Brighton/Hove boundary region writing songs about a range of universal themes including escaped monkeys, the logistical difficulties of bondage, the Pope, angry Buddhists, and techno-feudalism amongst other things.
“I don’t know what you’re music is, it was metal, then it was punk…that was punk wasn’t it? But then it was psychedelic and proggy. I’m confused…but I think I like it!”
FRAGILE CREATURES
Considerably more robust than the name might suggest, Fragile Creatures are an eclectic quintet from Brighton. From the motown tinged psych-pop of recent single, Don't Know What To Do, to the jagged chromaticism of live favourite Big Red Button, this is a band to keep you guessing, as they take aim at the feet, the heart, and the head in equal measures.
