Sussex Jazz Orchestra

The finest large scale jazz bands from around the south coast.  Every 2nd Sunday of the month 7.30pm at The Brunswick Main Venue. All events are free entry with a collection taken by the band (suggested £5 per person)

The Sussex Jazz Orchestra is an exciting 20-piece big band directed by trombonist Mark Bassey.  

The band play swing, latin, blues and more contermporary styles - an eclectic mix of compositions and arrangements.  The repertoire is pretty unique, predominantly from British writers, including pieces by Ian Hamer (founder of the band in 1985), Paul Busby (former Musical Director), Tubby Hayes, Stan Tracey and Kenny Wheeler.  There are also compositions and arrangements from within the band including Patrick Bilingham, Alice Hawkes, Hilary Burt and Mark Bassey.  

Expect fun, mischief and musical mayhem.
