The Sussex Jazz Orchestra (SJO) is an exciting 20 piece big band directed by trombonist Mark Bassey. The band play swing, latin, blues and more contemporary styles - an eclectic mix of compositions and arrangements. The repertoire is pretty unique, predominantly from British writers, including pieces by Ian Hamer (founder of the band in 1986), Paul Busby (Former MD), Tubby Hayes, Stan Tracey and Kenny Wheeler.
There are also compositions and arrangements from within the band including Patrick Billingham, Alice Hawkes, Hilary Burt and Mark Bassey.
Expect fun, mischief and musical mayhem...
