Soul Survivors (from Amsterdam)

Soul Survivors is a new young band from Amsterdam with a free spirit and a wild heart. The group has immersed themselves in soul, rhythm & blues by mastering all the old soul songs they love. With a setlist full of soul gems, they quickly built up a reputation in the Amsterdam live circuit. The band then used this musical suitcase to write powerful songs of their own.

Soul Survivors gave dazzling performances in many Dutch clubs and big jazz and bluesfestivals last season, The band has also gained a foothold in Germany in a short time with a growing fan base and performances. Tours to the UK and Spain are planned.

After the release of a 7” 45 rpm vinyl in 2023, the debut album The Road Ahead is now launched with ten soul stompers. The compositions are rooted in the classics from the 60s and 70s by Motown and Stax, but also have a modern soul vibe.

The band has the Rock Supplies in Amsterdam West as its headquarters. This is whereguitarist Max de Kok and bassist Dimitri Gelens have a studio where the songs are recorded. The tight Soul Survivors horn section consists of crackerjack trumpeter Pedro Jerónimo and top dog Jeroen van Genuchten on tenor sax. Gifted drummer Steve Cuiper and talended keyboardist Branco Spadon are ready for the big job. Singer Remko Spaaij has that dark soul voice that excites and thrills every room. The band alternates steamy soul songs with blues and rock bangers, think of how the Blues Brothers did it. Soul Survivors gonna take you higher, higher, higher!
