I was born in Chile during the military dictatorship that devastated our country, our people and our family. This is my personal story about the darkest hour of humanity and the lessons I have learnt.
I remember seeing the armed military on the street corners as a young child. I recall the faces of the adults around me, filled with fear, terror and blank expressions of hopelessness as though they were wearing masks. From my child's perspective this was normal, it was all I knew. It took me 50 years to work out what PTSD, stress and anxiety does to people, myself included.
My memories of Chile seemed to filled with a deep sense of inconsolable grief. A lifetime of therapy and I was still angry and resentful about it all. That was, until I started to connect with the folk music, and then something unbelievable happened…
I received this infusion of tenderness, passion, power, poetry and raw energy that would fill me the strength and courage from the ones that came before me, and I believe it will give this to you too.
This a creative coming of age story with insights and inspiration for this here human experience.
