Nick Kingswell has always written songs that feel like conversations - honest, understated and rich with the kind of detail that lingers long after the music ends. His recent singles, Hummingbird and Sounds Like Going Home, have marked a new chapter in his songwriting, pairing intimate storytelling with warm, organic production inspired by the likes of Gregory Alan Isakov, Flyte and The Paper Kites. The releases have resonated with listeners drawn to thoughtful, cinematic folk, further establishing Kingswell's reputation for songs that feel both deeply personal and universally familiar.

His latest release, Human - a tender duet inspired by the perspective that comes with becoming a parent - continues that trajectory, embracing vulnerability with the quiet optimism that has become a hallmark of his writing.

Growing up on Phillip Island in Australia, Kingswell began writing songs at the age of eight. Raised on a soundtrack of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Willie Nelson and Creedence Clearwater Revival before discovering country greats including Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Dwight Yoakam and Troy Cassar-Daley, songwriting quickly became a lifelong pursuit. In 2006, he won the Telstra Road to Tamworth, earning the opportunity to record Hope For Me Yet in Nashville with acclaimed producer Mark Moffatt for Sony BMG. The single went on to reach No. 1 on CMC Australia.

A gifted guitarist, Kingswell spent the following years touring and recording with artists including Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy and The McClymonts before launching his solo career. His debut album, Over Easy, was released in 2014, leading to extensive touring throughout Australia and Europe before relocating to London, where he continues to write and record.

Subsequent albums Brontide, Midnight in Melbourne and Run To Space showcased an artist constantly evolving while remaining rooted in thoughtful songwriting. Tracks from across his catalogue have received support from BBC Introducing, editorial playlists and radio, while Always was named Track of the Week by BBC Introducing (UK).

Alongside his artist releases, Kingswell has built an impressive catalogue of music for screen, earning numerous sync placements across television and film. His songs have featured in productions including Neighbours, Home and Away and a growing list of international television and streaming productions, reflecting his gift for writing emotionally resonant, cinematic music that connects both on and off screen.

Whether writing for listeners or the screen, Nick Kingswell's songs share the same thread: stories of ordinary people, quiet hope and finding beauty in life's everyday moments.
