Brighton (UK) based New Wave Breakers formed out of a shared love for the inventive, genre-blurring sound of the New Wave era. We cover songs by artists such as Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, Talking Heads, Squeeze, Talk Talk, Tears for Fears, Prefab Sprout, and loads more. Not just the hits, but the deep cuts and forgotten gems.

We’re not about imitation. Our aim is to honour the songwriting and spirit of the original tracks while bringing our own energy and musical voice to the stage. But how do we define New Wave? We think it’s music of the late 1970s to mid 1980s that got a leg-up from the anarchic spirit of punk. It’s music that’s clever, catchy, full of emotion and intent, and a bit left-field.

New Wave Breakers is for people who appreciate sharp lyrics, tight grooves, and a bit of sonic adventure. Whether you’re reliving your favourite records or hearing them anew, we hope our set list surprises you in all the right ways.
