In Other Words Poetry Night

We are back and continue to grow bigger and better than ever! 

Come and spend an evening with words, stories, laughs and a lovely bunch of people at In Other Words Poetry Night.

Whether you’re a devoted poetry lover, a secret poet, someone who thinks poetry “isn’t really your thing”, or you’re simply looking for a warm, friendly night out, you’re very VERY welcome here.

We’re all about making poetry feel less intimidating and much more like a night with good people. Expect a brilliant mix of open mic poets, plenty of personality, big feelings, silly moments, and words that might just stay with you. We have a selection of open micers, a headliner and lots of laughs and loveliness along the way as well as a HUGE array of talent.

We will have a headliner of Elle Dillon-Reams as well as a host of open micers! (open mic tickets are sold out but we will have a wildcard slot on the night so come along anyway and give it a try!

Come on your own, bring a friend, or bring someone you’re trying to convince that they do actually like poetry.

Elle Dillon-Reams is a neurodivergent, queer, multi-disciplinary artist, originally from Brighton. Alumni of the inaugural New Writing South Playwrights collective, multi-award winner of Poetry Slams across the UK, Elle’s debut poetry collection Maladaptive was published by Verve Poetry Press. Her poem BUOY was recently long listed for the prestigious Forward Poetry Prize for best performed poem 2026.

Elle was selected by Craig Charles and BBC6 Music as part of the Poetry class of 2023, she has since had several commissions from the BBC, and has performed her writing at festivals including Glastonbury, Latitude, Ledbury Literary Festival, and The Edinburgh International Festival.

Elle’s show MEAT was shortlisted for both The Cabaret award and the International Touring award for Brighton Fringe 2026, and won the Most Outstanding Dance Production Award.

Elle’s debut show HoneyBEE won both The Three Weeks Editors award and Best Newcomer from The Scotsman, she took both HoneyBEE and her second solo show MEAT to Edinburgh in 2023, and in 2025/26 toured both shows across the UK receiving five star reviews, sellouts, and an Offie Nomination.

Elle is currently developing her third play ‘Buoy’.
