whose body is this is the main alias of Ben Mason. Hailing from Brighton, his eclectic set of influences range from the likes of fierce Japanoise to acid techno. Using combinations of livecoding, PureData patches and guitar, whose's music is everchanging, flitting between harsh sonic detritus, lush pads and pounding beats. His guitarwork, influenced closely by Keiji Haino and Derek Bailey, mixes spidery virtuosity and sparse soundplay, blurring boundaries of analog and digital. Squealing feedback, brow-raising atonality and the occasional diminished 7 chord. You can't ask for much else.
Marienbad is a project by Audrey Cusack, running since she first stepped foot in Brighton. Named after the French New Wave film of the same name, Cusack tries to replicate the eponymous garden's florality using a laptop and sampler, resulting in soundscapes both colourful and aggressive. Using cuts sourced from whatever art she's been interested in recently, the effect is almost one of a sonic diary, mixing genres, timbres and tones. Warm, cold, silly and serious. She also plays in freak-improv duo Ratdanger (along with whose) writes, does visual art and runs gigs around Brighton.
Le Trash is Abrasive harsh noise from Mexico City (via Yellowknife) on a brief mini-tour through the UK. Manuel Armida has been a prolific and versatile force for some decades now, always delivering the perfect harsh sound attack.
