Back in the woods presents CHORDSPLITTER - with support from Sock Drawer and Joe Woodhams. CHORDSPLITTER Chordsplitter is the cutting-edge dreamy synth/soft-rock solo project of 34 year old British drummer and producer, Nick Roberts, musically and culturally rooted in London and Barcelona. 2023 brings Chordsplitter’s debut self-titled album which forays deep into the world of synth drumming, opening up a vast new world of sonic possibilities on the electric drums. Rubbery synth-bass on the kick; overdriven guitar chords on the crash; almost-in-tune upright pianos; wonky classic synths; tuned pipes; hand claps; and – ironically – sampled vintage acoustic drum kits, are all orchestrated live in-the-moment at the strike of an e-drum or e-cymbal. Blended with Chordsplitter’s gentle baritone voice, subtle vocoder and vocal harmonizers, the result is a uniquely percussive flavour of dreamy synth/soft-rock. SOCK DRAWER Electronic duo Sock Drawer are one of the most exciting new bands on the Brighton scene. They have an album in the can which they have been working on with James Dring ( Gorillaz, Blur, Jamie T). FFO the XX and Romy. JOE WOODHAM Joe Woodham’s latest solo album, Worldwide Weather is a lo-fi foley adventure. Featuring wailing guitars aboard hypnotic tape loops, gale force bass VI and squally seagulls. A hazy, looping soundscape of cosmiche guitar, ambient washes, field recordings, folk melodies, gentle propulsion and percussive beats, searching for hidden signals in the shipping forecast.
