Big Band @ Brunswick: The One World Jazz Orchestra: A New Standard

Fresh from their appearance at the Love Supreme jazz festival, powerful jazz, big-band funk and swing from the 17-strong One World Jazz Orchestra, playing music by Charles Mingus, Maria Schneider, Bob Mintzer, Paul Busby, Radiohead, Thad Jones, Kenny Wheeler and more, including arrangements from within the band.

The One World Jazz Orchestra has its origins as the Paul Busby Big Band, a renowned local big band devoted to playing the original compositions of Paul, the band leader and pianist. When Paul retired from music the band was relaunched as the One World Jazz Orchestra, taking its name from Paul’s One World Jazz Suite.  Whilst Paul Busby’s compositions are still an important part of the band’s repertoire, you can also expect to hear a wide range of contemporary jazz and a few numbers that draw upon the big band tradition.
