FRI 4TH DEC

£10

Since first emerging in 2013 with her critically acclaimed ‘All We Can’ EP, Yumi And The Weather has spent the past few years perfecting her unique blend of electrifying technicolour psych-pop. Her first album saw heavy radio support from BBC 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne, Guy Garvey, Don Letts, Shaun Keaveny, Nemone and Radio X’s John Kennedy (including live sessions for BBC Introducing and Radio X) and was featured in Electronic Magazine's top albums of 2018 list.

Other previous supporters include Clash, The 405, Dummy, Noisey, Music Is My Sanctuary, Mixmag, The Arts Desk, Stamp The Wax.

She is releasing her 3rd EP on Brighton label Small Pond on 4th December, and is doing a small tour to engage with her fans, keep live music alive, and support grassroots venues.

“Transporting you to purple galaxies and neon-coloured paradises; a precious slice of rainbow-tainted heaven whose lyrics provide a surprisingly nocturnal balance.”

PLANET FOR SALE

+ LUAMI + JAZZ AVENUE

DECEMBER 5TH (RESCHEDULED)

£8

We would like to invite you to a night with Brighton’s latest independent BBC introduced artist.

Leading the voice with a dedicated and loyal fan base PLANET FOR SALE will be heading to The Brunswick to headline on Friday 6th November. They will fuse ambience, British-rock with blues with serious storytelling to produce an emotionally moving and melodic soundtrack. During the Pandemic, PLANET FOR SALE launched a campaign to support Live Music and Venues and was later on Acknowledged and Introduced by BBC Radio as “a Fresh Sounding and Sprightly Band” across the south and Chat and Spin Radio in the North.

Also on the bill will be LUAN MEI Who planned her content of modern-day use into absolute fun. Luan released her debut single 'Elements' in 2019, which caught everyone's attention and has been played on BBC Radio, Radio Reverb and Platform B Radio. Her last single, 'Yellow', released in June 2020 during Pride, brought successful results.

Opening the evening, JAZZ AVENUE is a jazz group, based on the South Coast. They play predominantly Jazz Standards, along with contemporary artists such as Imelda May and Caro Emerald. Sophistication and harmonies, mixed with slightly quirky and Sassy styling, Jazz Avenue will bring the Je ne ces Qoi to any event or occasion.

THE REAL MUSIC CLUB
W/ DANDELION CHARM

+ TIM BURNESS (SOLO)

FRIDAY 22ND JANUARY

£8

The Real Music Club return to The Brunswick with a special, stripped back show for us with headliners Dandelion Charm being joined by a solo set from Tim Burness.

Dandelion Charm from Newhaven, England, blend folk, prog and rock, with a sound reminiscent of the late '60s and early '70's. Think Fleetwood Mac meets Opeth, CSN meets Yes.

Intricate harmonies and epic outros tell emotional stories of disfunction, joy and despair.

Their latest album ‘Maybe Dreamers’ follows on from 2018’s five track mini-album, 'Riding the Flood', and their debut album 'Tiny Drop'.

Support comes from the illustrious Tim Burness who will be performing a stripped back, acoustic set to open the show with tracks from his albums 'Interconnected (2018)' and 'Whose Dream Are You living? (2017)'.

TIM STAFFELL AND PAUL STEWART

JANUARY 29TH (RESCHEDULED)

£10

Tim Staffell  was the lead singer and bassist of the now legendary sixties rock trio Smile, alongside guitarist Brian May and Roger Taylor. When he left to persue other musical projects in 1970 , his college friend Freddie Bulsara took his place as lead singer. The band changed their name to Queen and Bulsara changed his name to Mercury.

The 2018 biopic 'Bohemian Rhapsody' depicts this chapter in history, portraying a gig where Smile performs 'Doin' All Right', which Staffell co-wrote with May (and was also recorded with Mercury for Queen's first album). Staffell supplied new vocals and bass parts for the movie and official soundtrack: 'Doing All Right - ...Revisited'.

Staffell has continued to write and perform original music in the decades since he left Smile, collaborating with luminaries such as  drummer Colin Peterson (Bee Gees), keyboardist and composer Morgan Fisher, guitarist Snowy White and Chaz Jankel (Ian Dury & The Blockheads).

ORNATE ANTLERS (ACOUSTIC)

+ BINKY

FEBRUARY 20TH (rescheduled)

£8

After last year's launch party for the single "Princess Bubblegum", Ornate Antlers are excited to be back at The Brunswick for a first ever acoustic show and the first gig with new guitarist Joe recruited over the summer.

Expect new twists to their energetic pop-punk setlist (turning down their beloved #loudguitar #louderdrums just a little) and maybe a new cover or two.

They'll be joined by band friends Binky, who'll be throwing in their foot-stomping ragged folk sounds for what should be a great evening!

Ornate Antlers' new single "When the Fonz jumped the Shark" will be released on the 31st October.

12 stone toddler

SAT 19TH DEC

£12

12 Stone Toddler rock ... But remember when rock was anti-fashion, didn’t stay in neat little categories, represented deviation from the norm? Remember when rock plundered other genres and threw the bits into a hot cauldron? Remember when rock meant bands with nothing in common other than a liking for loud guitars, stomping beats, electric hooks?

12 Stone Toddler bring this ethic back into the modern world. A marriage of opposites, combining heady eclecticism with a love of the three minute wonder. All shiny and new, yet visited at night by the ghosts of 20th century music. Swaggering with the chutzpah of a naked child threatening to wedge a fork into the electrical socket, each twist and swivel brings a new reason to love this band.

With support from Fred Hills.
