Albertos 8pm £5

Hungry for a party? Look
no further than the scrumptious Los
Albertos, a six-piece ska sensation who will more than satisfy your
appetite with foot-stomping, feel-good sounds; think Madness, the Clash
and Santana. Two saxophones, a trumpet, guitar, drums, bass, cheeky lyrics
and more energy than an Olympic sprint team Los Albertos have a wicked
sense of fun and can be very tongue-in-cheek. This was a superb show by a
local band that effortlessly represent this city's bohemian vibe.

THE REAL MUSIC CLUB present
JOE FILISKO with
THE BLACKJACKS and
THE SHOESTRUNG
Featuring three fantastic acts, this is
likely to be one of the city’s best blues events of 2010!
Joe Filisko is without question one of the best blues harmonica players in
the world. Joe is visiting from Chicago to teach at
Northampton Blues Week and this will be his only UK gig this year. He
played the Brunswick last summer, the event was sold out as word spread
that a special musician was in town. The audience was amazed by Joe’s
magical playing and the sheer range of sounds that he could produce from a
harmonica. Seeing Joe Filisko perform is an unforgettable and joyful
experience, his craftsmanship, musicianship and knowledge of the
instrument are acknowledged and praised by all of the top harmonica
players around the world, including Howard Levy, Kim Wilson and Charlie
Musselwhite to name but a few.
"The music world in general and the harmonica world in particular
are blessed to have Joe Filisko as an active member. As a player of
staggering skill and versatility, a
passionate teacher, a vastly knowledgeable historian and an innovative
technician, Joe is without peer. He is a constant inspiration to us
all"…Grant Dermody
In support are two excellent bands ‘The Blackjacks’ and ‘The
Shoestrung’
One of Brighton’s favourite blues bands, ‘The
Blackjacks’ are reforming for this special event. Swinging
blues and foot tapping fun, with double bass, drums, guitar and featuring
the wonderful ‘Wandering Wilf Taylor’ on harmonica. Also from
Brighton, but now based in London where their popularity keeps on growing,
‘The Shoestrung’ are one of the
best young rhythm and blues groups in the UK today, their performances
echo the excitement and energy of the early Rolling Stones, plus a very
current and fashionable edge. With all sorts of other special guests
expected, for anyone into blues and especially with a love of the blues
harmonica this will be an evening not to miss!! |

Welcome back Lea DeLaria; American comedienne, actress, and jazz
musician. The "famously controversial" DeLaria was "the first openly
gay comic to break the late-night talk-show barrier" with her 1993
appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show.
Called "every inch and ounce a star," by The New York Times, DeLaria
has performed stand-up comedy for over 25 years and is an extremely
prominent figure in the world of lesbian stand-up comedy, she is noted
for her raunchy persona and inflammatory, irreverent political
commentary, which have proven controversial inside and outside the gay
and lesbian community. |
| Lea began her career billing herself as "That
Fucking Dyke"; she states "I called myself that because I would walk
down the street and people would yell (it) at me. But after two years
of performing I would walk down the street and people would yell (it)
at me and I wouldn't know if they were a fan or not! http://www.delariadammit.com/ |

bass playing of Blood Sugar Hill,
wailing blues guitar of T Bone LeRhone
with magic fingers Matt Gest pounding

Canyon, and reed bending saxophonist Rosie
Cheeks ... All underpinned by the booty shaking rhythms of Redhand
Mallon, at one time one of the most feared sticksmen in
Portslade!! At the forefront of this collection of raw, soulful, hipsters
are the brassiere busting vocals of fireball front-woman Gloria
Stittes, whose voice will strip you naked, box you soundly

Ready your hips and open your heart – Derriere will take you from

It should also be mentioned that members of this accomplished rabble have
